WikiSym Call for Participation

WikiSym 2005, Oct 16-18, San Diego, California.

Did you ever wonder what made Ward Cunningham invent wikis? And what he thinks is the next big thing?

Did you ever wonder how to create something as huge as Wikipedia? And how to organize an international community?

Do you want to understand The Future of Wikis? Do you want to have your say with industry greats and be heard?

Come to WikiSym, the 2005 International Symposium on Wikis!

At WikiSym, you'll

  • hear Ward Cunningham, father of the Wiki, talk about wikis and collaboration
  • hear Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia, talk about the free culture revolution
  • hear Ward Cunningham, Jimmy Wales, Ross Mayfield (founder of Socialtext) discuss the Future of Wikis - moderated by Sunir Shah (Meatball Wiki).
  • hear Joe Kraus (JotSpot) Peter Thoeny (TWiki) Thomas Weigert (Motorola Global Software Group) discuss wikis in the consumer enterprise - moderated by Eugene Eric Kim (Blue Oxen Associates).
If you are a user and practitioner, you'll love the tutorials on Getting Started with Wikis, Wikipedia, and Using Wikis in Software Development, and a unique WikiSym experience, the SpeedDemos, showcasing interesting wiki technologies and recent developments.

If you want to get work done, you'll enjoy attending any of the free workshops on current wiki topics, such as dealing with WikiSpam, Open Source Wikis, and InterWiki networking.

If you are a researcher, you'll want to attend WikiSym's technical paper track with the best current research on wiki-based technology, processes, and education.

So who's coming? Everybody who is anybody in the Wiki community!

Confirmed participants include Ward Cunningham (father of the Wiki), Jimmy Wales (founder of Wikipedia), Sunir Shah (founder of Meatball), Peter Thoeny (creator of TWiki), Joe Kraus (CEO of JotSpot), Ross Mayfield (CEO of SocialText), Eugene E.
