The "magic categories" of home snip and comment (see icons in
snipsnap-changed) should be expanded in both dimensions.
BREADTH: There are more inherent "snip types" than comments and people. Dated entries might be visually set apart, depending on how the date association evolves in the new world of
Labels. Most importantly, though, the magic "snipsnap-" system snips should stand apart.
DEPTH: All exposure of snip names should behave similarly to Recently Changed. External links always get an indicator, so should comments, people, system snips, and calendar entries.
Ideally, this would all be done via CSS with something like
<a href="comment-main%20title-4" class="snipLink-comment">main title</a>
<a href="phobia" class="snipAuthorLink">phobia</a>
I should caution that the number of system-level snip types should be kept to a minimum. That minimum is, however, greater than one and worth acknowledging.
It would be
very nice to be able to constrain searches to specific types. Presently, search results are often cluttered with barely-relevant comments
UPDATE: Leo has indicated in the
SnipSnap-mailinglist that comments will become
subsnips of the parent snip as part of the
Namespace refactor. I don't think this impacts my call for consistent snip types, but perhaps it does.
