What about extending the usefulness of SnipSnap as a space for collaboration by adding "messages" and "short-lived snips"?
While reading
phobias snip about the
editing workflow and the
ettiquette snip I thought it would be nice if the author of a snip could mark the snip with
needs approval (in addition to the "free to edit" and "locked" that already exist).
Using this mark everybody would be free to edit the snip, but only the original author could actually include the changes (by approving or rejecting them).
In order to make this work however we would also need notifications (and probably short-lived snips that work just as messages in a mailbox). Notifications would be displayed to the user upon login.
Messages could also be used to send a private message (just as we know them from bulletin boards) to some other user.
Maybe I'm starting to have ideas that would turn SnipSnap into a silver bullet (or an
Eierlegende Woll-Milch-Sau), but messages and notifications would add an additional, even more informal (and less persistent) level to snips than the already existing comment snips…
