David Kullman is a writer/producer who lives in New York and Bombay.
David was blessed to not only have been born into a loving family, but to have visited over 60 countries and have lived throughout Europe and Asia. He draws enduring innocence and inspiration from this fortune and an inner ease found windsurfing and cycling solo around a world that has so often welcomed him, a world he believes to be at a point of historic possibility. David has been building Turiya Entertainment to ignite these possibilities.
Born in New York, David received a BA from Hamilton College. He did graduate studies at Kyoto University in Japan while an ice hockey player and resident of the ancient Tendai temple Shinnyodo. Life among the Buddhist monks sparked an awakening and an even greater journey as David hung up the skates and produced country reports on location for The Japan Times. This gave him the opportunity to interview over 1000 top industry and political leaders across the world and write over 100 feature articles.
After years of exploring the vision behind the historic rise of Asia across the region for The Japan Times, David found his own inspiration on assignment in India. Afterwards, he spent nearly a year cycling around the country, befriending royalty in Rajastan and yogis in the Himalayas, and sleeping in palaces, ashrams, mud huts, shanties and on the desert sands of the Thar. Getting lost so often led him to find the magic of a land he found more magical than any other. David began to write what would become an epic mythology about karma. This led him to collaborate with renowned Indian director Mani Ratnam, cinematographer Santosh Sivan and veterans of the Academy Award winning Best Picture Gandhi.
The experience awakened David to an alchemy. The formula: uniting the creative talent of America and India. This led him to create Turiya Entertainment. David has been busy establishing production bases in both New York and Bombay. The focus: cost-competitive global brands in feature film, next generation reality television and integrated interactive games/virtual worlds/web communities. The vision: a global Dreamworks. The aim: not only entertain but take us beyond the mind – turiya in ancient Sanskrit – that is, to enchant, awaken and empower. In short, to create Entertainment 2.0 for the 21st Century.
