Does the upload works with gif images?

I have tryed and instead of copying the gif file to images/ it generated a 0 bytes file called image-snipsnapname-C (no extension).

BTW, I put the image by copying it directly to images/ and renaming it to image-snipsnapname-1.gif, but that is not what I wanted.
