Apologies for the meaningless snip but the possibility of creating snip #4444 was too tempting to pass up.
But now I realise I can't zap! it like entries in my personal snipsnap!
But while I have a flicker of attention I'd love to find out where I can get hold of information about customising the application, that's pitched to someone closer to the user than the programmer - but prepared to tweak and add to the app.
I appreciate the documentation that's here but find myself spending a lot of time trawling through the index and related page links seeking snippets of wisdom. (maybe that's where I should be now - reading - instead of burbling on here...
I'm after some of the simplest details - like
- how to effectively set JAVA_HOME on a W2K machine
- why do I need to log in to different sections of my own SnipSnap installation when I go from the Weblog to the Wiki etc. Surely logging in once should be sufficient. Is there some parameter in a conf file I've failed to set correctly?
- Login to different sections? Did you create two instances, one for Weblog and one for wiki? Otherwise SnipSnap only needs a single logon for one instance/space.
- where to find a medium level (?) technical introduction to the thinking behind the application with some reference to its antecedents. Perhaps I should read more about Architecture etc
- how to change themes after initial install, short of complete overhaul of css files
- The simplest way is to get the theme Snips as XML, import them and select the new theme. Otherwise you can always modify the CSS. A simplyer way by just tweaking one or two parameter is not possible at the moment. The CSS should allow such modification but the color values are scattered throughout the css files.
- extending SnipSnap via MAcros. I'm the kind of user who needs and introduction to the introduction! Maybe I should just keep reading and o back to the Radeox roots
Anyway, sorry to waste your time. And in case there was any doubt, I think this is one amazing application!
