a.k.a. >>Hans Gerwitz of St Louis, MO, USA.

I'm moving away from the "phobia" pseudonym. I inherited it from my novelty domain name (>>phobia.com), and have decided to use the Google juice from that domain to guide people to information about social anxiety disorders, specific fears, etc.

I'm afraid I gave up on SnipSnap in August of 2005. It had become stagnant as the core team idled and never opened up development, so I moved to XWiki. I still hope the project well, as leo and funzel are good, bright guys and the code base is a very solid start. null null null

  • content:
  • nullnullnullI am hoping to help guide SnipSnap towards becoming the knowledge management tool of my dreams for >>my office.

    My pet issues:

    I am full of ideas.

I'm now maintaining a personal "to do" list for SnipSnap extensions at >>http://phobia.tadalist.com/lists/public/18899

I am only 1 of the 5567 users here, but have authored 480 of the 13713 snips.

Thanks for telling me about SnipSnap. Now I'm going to spam your space with comments. Or just this one.

I follow you around today. Just like Google and Slurp.

That's a creepy thought. I think. What do you mean?

Just think, someone creeping around every corner just to see what you are doing…

Can someone please tell me how I can make a website/weblog like www.evasik.com (my uncle)? I have a webbie but I think that this host is a lot better. So can one of you please help? Thankz!

wow. just checked out >>phobia.com and it's exactly what I've been meaning to do with snipsnap. Very nice implementation !

Thanks, but you make me quite self-conscious of how far it is from my goals. My concept of a SnipStream has matured quite a bit since I implemented the journalling labels and macros that phobia.com uses at present.

i was going to ask about the journals.. you've got a working version of one of my personal 'must have' features.. (the next step is to make some journals or namespaces have access controls) Did you just use namespaces or ? Also, does the blog on your homepage aggregate the content posted to the various journals ?

    Icon-Comment phobia, 3 years and 312 days ago. Icon-Permalink

The journals are implemented with a macro-label pair: the label specifies a journal name and a date, and the macro displays snips with a matching journal name.

I had some problems making the macro aggregate, and just put it off. I originally intended to have many "journals" that were aggregated on the homepage. I've since decided that I'll have only two (personal journal and public blog), and use >>del.icio.us-style tags to categorize (via a tag label and a tag "filter" on the rendering macro.

I also want to streamline the posting process by >>using macros to create the labels.

I don't use namespaces at all (originally I intended to use them for aggregation, but have since begun to consider hierarchical metadata harmful). Access control will be more interesting… even when the FIRST guys get their stuff working, how do I prevent Bob from labeling his snips to appear in Lisa's journal?

we'll miss you, phobia! you've definitely been one of the superstars on snipsnap.org.

i have to say i agree with you, though. i really like snipsnap, and funzel and leo deserve nothing but accolades for building it...but it's not exactly actively maintained any more. :/

i do have to admit, i'm curious about how you plan to port your site. i might eventually consider porting >>snarfed.org, but i'd hate to undertake a huge new project just to fix something that, for the moment, isn't broken. i'll email you…

    Hi phobia & ryan,

if you took the way to xwiki, please share your experience here, or mail me: snipsnap@drei2eins.de

I'm holding back on the migration, as my users here are not that flexible :-/

xwiki certainly looks nice, feature-wise, and more active than snipsnap (not hard). But a further development of snipsnap would be very welcome!

    Regards,

    Michael

Hello phobia, ryan & michaelk i am also interested in sharing xwiki experiences. Bests!

Migration has gone pretty well, using Groovy to parse SnipSnap XML export. For personal reasons I've not had time to work on my personal site, but when I do get it back online I'll post details there. (It doesn't seem appropriate to discuss migration from SnipSnap on SnipSnap.org, eh?)

    Very thanks for your information.

Or it is better to create an page on xwiki.org about this migration topic.
